My sweet Courtney has my temper. This morning she was cracking me up as she voiced her displeasure over the choice of breakfast. I'm so glad I can't understand what she is saying! Yes I know its wrong to laugh at her but I can't help it.

Gratitude

I'm thankful for public libraries. The wealth of knowledge that is there for anyone who wants it, it just staggers my mind. Reading times for my children, book discussions for me, computers available if I need it and books, books, books. I love the library!

Gratitude

A friend on Facebook suggested a gratitude list. Each day of the month of November you post what you are thankful for. I decided to do it on my blog instead.

Today I thankful for my sweet husband David. In over 12 1/2 years of marriage, he never forgets to kiss me and tell me he loves me before he leaves for work. It doesn't matter if I'm fully awake or not, he still does it. He even did it for the year or so he worked night shift. What a great husband.

Old MacDonalds Farm

Recently we visited Old MacDonalds Farm. We had an absolute blast. We were so glad some friends could come with us (although we missed Amy). The pumpkin patch was a big hit. But the favorite was the HUGE sand pile. Everyone got filthy and had an absolute blast doing it.

All the girls had a great time choosing a pumpkin. The twins couldn't get over the idea of all these pumpkins just sitting on the tables waiting to be picked up. Lucky for us Sarah was on hand to help them choose. It took forever to pick one and I think each child picked up a minimum of twenty pumpkins before they finally found the one they thought was perfect.

Halloween

I love Halloween. My favorite part is the parade of little children who come out early in their costumes. Who cares who is going to eat the candy I give them, or if they like the optional treats they get. I simply enjoy how adorable each and every one of them looks.

David dressed up as a biker, I was Dorothy, Janna a ghost, Courtney as Tinker bell and Kennedy as Snow White. Some friends of ours come to trick or treat with us around our section of the neighborhood. Our little cul-de-sac with its ten houses had gone all out with decorations. We have blow up black cats that move, pumpkins shaped like Mickey Mouse, a carousel with a ghost, witch and mummy riding, a pumpkin that has a cat jumping out of it and lots of orange lights and spider webs. It’s a fun street.

Our friend Dave dressed up as Charlie Brown and showed up with his two girls dressed as witches and a friend who brought two little spider men. Mike, Kristin and Erin came as a Redneck named Cletus, a hippy and a zombie. Off they headed to talk our neighbors out of candy. Both my David and our friend held one of the twins. It seems that Courtney at first was a little shy and didn’t get what to do at each house. After a few she would hold out her little bucket and smile at each door. Needless to say Tinker bell managed to fill her bucket. Kennedy doesn’t suffer shyness when it comes to candy and boldly followed her big sister to get her share. Our ghost had to unload at one point and Snow White came home with her bucket full as well.

Other friends from the neighborhood and school stopped by to say hi and get their share of candy. I was sitting outside with a decorated table to give out treats. We had two buckets, chocolate and non-chocolate. When parents were with the child I always asked which one they could have. We also made special loot bags for our neighbors and those who couldn’t have either. At one point Dave and his friends came back to our house to head to his section, David brought the twins back so they could get to bed. Dave put Courtney down right as a group of children came up to get candy. So I’m giving out candy while keeping an eye on her. Would you know she got in line with all the other kids and held her bucket out to me! It was so cute. As David got Courtney ready for bed Kennedy sat outside with me handing out candy. She loved being a big girl and helping.

I had one little boy who could barely walk take the entire bucket of candy when I held it out for him to choose a piece. One group of children was being shy so the cowboy/robber in the group held me up saying, “Okay, this is a stick up, hand over the candy and no one gets hurt. I have a gun and it is loaded.” I gave him extra candy for creativity!!

After Kristin and company left for a party Tina, Bill and Tony showed up. Tony and I took Janna to Rachel’s section of our neighborhood to trick or treat there. We got to the door and I could see Rachel jumping at least three feet in the air yelling, “Janna’s here, Janna’s here!!” She came with us as we knocked on her neighbor’s doors. Janna got creative and lay down on the doorsteps of each house. This way she could jump up, yell boo and they would think she was a real ghost. The ten houses we hit managed to fill up three buckets.

All in all we had a great Halloween. Any one want any candy? We have lots.
