Big girl Kennedy

This morning when it was time to get dressed for the day Kennedy walked over to the child's potty chair and said I potty. I took her clothes off and let her run around while I dressed Courtney. She immediately sat down on the potty chair. I didn't think anything of it because she loves to sit on this chair at any time. Imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered that she had actually done it. She used the chair and peed in it like a big girl!!! I didn't think I was going to do potty training at 21 months but why not - if she wants to do it, I'm in.

Board breaking

During TKD class today I broke a few boards. I did it twice with a sliding side kick and twice with a palm smash. For those who have been doing this a while I'm sure that's no big deal. For me, I'm on top of the world. What a great feeling!!!!

Birthday card

Janna's birthday card to me was one she made and it reads:

Welcome Birthday year.
I am so glad your mine!

Isn't that precious?

My birthday - part one: the van

My best friend Shana's dad went to the ER last night. I found out after my my TKD class. I came home to get changed. As I'm driving up I see my sister Tina and her son Tony ahead of me. They had come to surprise me a little early. So I was thinking I was pretty slick for catching them sneaking up on me. We had a quick visit - they gave me a card, a butterfly and a monkey balloon then I headed up to the hospital.

I stayed until about 2 am. This morning I overslept and was rushing to Janna to school on time. Tina calls me and asks if I've taken Janna to school yet, in my rush I said no we're running late I'll call you back. Kennedy is screaming her head off -Janna's in slow motion and Courtney is kicked back being sweet. I decided to take Kennedy out to the car first so I could have a quick moment without being screamed at. I open the door to the garage and find my van covered with writing on the windows, balloons and streamers inside the van and presents on the front seat. Tina and Tony had decorated my van while I was distracted. I had taken David's car up to the hospital so I had no idea. Yes there is writing everywhere. Kennedy stopped crying immediately and happily played with the balloons.

We got lots of honks in the car line at school - plus they didn't give Janna a tardy because of the van.

New Years Day at the zoo

Janna's friend Rachel joined us at the Houston Zoo today. It was a gorgeous day and we loved being outside. We asked the girls what they wanted to see the most today and made sure we visited each exhibit. All the girls went crazy for the elephants and giraffe.

We didn't notice until we got home - right as David took this picture a bird flew by my face. The only one who noticed was Kennedy. Pretty cool huh?

We did a lot of walking and it wore the girls out. On the way home Janna and Rachel fell asleep while Courtney and Kennedy sang the whole way home. Janna placed a sweater over her head to keep the sun out of her eyes. And yes, Rachel is using the bag of cotton candy as a pillow.

Happy New Years - 2010

Happy New Year everyone. If the rest of my year is as perfect as today I'll be a happy woman. We spent a gorgeous day as a family at the Houston Zoo. We enjoyed a traditional southern New Years day meal. We then ended the evening by going out with my sister and her husband to a comedy club. So far 2010 looks good to me!
