Courtney

At breakfast I see Courtney looking thoughtful. She says, "mom, you know how people say Are you thinking what I'm thinking?  When they ask me that, in my head I'm thinking No, not really. I don't know what's in your mind. I'm not in your soul."

Courtney is telling me about a tv show she watched. It would seem the mom in the show said "I married for the sweet love I money!"  Courtney says, "when it's me I'm going to marry for the sweet love of candy!!"

David Garrett

I allow Janna to get onto YouTube but I have to admit I worry about the things she will see.  There have been many conversations about this and I'm sure many more to come.  This morning she was in my shower and asked if I would put on some music for her.  Last time she requested Taylor Swift "Shake it Off" because she thought it was funny and ironic to be in the shower dancing to that and then shaking her body.  This time when I asked what she wanted to listen to she replied, "David Garrett, he's an awesome violinist mom!"  I pull up YouTube and found some of his music and I have to agree with her.   He's very talented and I completely enjoyed his music.  When I asked her how she heard about him she told me she found him on YouTube.  It seems she was looking up movie theme songs and he did a version of Pirates of the Caribbean. 

David Garrett has now joined, Adele, Katy Perry, OneRepublic and Taylor Swift as the top favorites.

Kennedy

Kennedy loves to sing and let's me tape her singing sometimes. She then wants to immediately watch herself. My favorite part is that she always sings along with the video. 😍

Kennedy's was tired and grumpy this morning so I suggested a hot shower might might make her feel better. A super smiling girl came out after and said, "mom this shower is magic'. It helped open my eyes and made me feel better!"

Proud mommy moment

This morning Janna is practicing her baritone. I have to admit I don't always recognize the songs. Today she is playing and calls her sisters in saying, "girls what is this one?"  She then plays the opening song to Star Wars which the other two immediately recognized.  FYI she taught herself the song.

I am so proud of all my girls right now!  😁

Courtney's game

We are in the car and Courtney asks me if I would like to play her game with her.  She said, "it's called I Spy With My Little Sky.  You take turns looking up at the clouds and telling what shapes you see.  Then the other person tries to see if they can find it too."

Play date

There is a little girl named Ava who lives down the street. She came over yesterday for a play date. Today she comes over to ask if Courtney can come play. She said, "can it be just her because she is my very best friend?"  So we all walked her over to Ava's house. It was a little hard to walk away. 

This is Courtney's first solo play date. In fact it's her first ever where she was the one invited.  Kennedy has many friends in TX and here where they both got to go play. Courtney is feeling pretty special right now.

Nerd??

Janna walks in the room, she's wearing a SuperMan T-shirt and her cute hipster glasses.  She says, "mom, I think I'm becoming a nerd."  Naturally I ask why she thinks that. Her response is, "cause I'm sitting at the computer wondering if there is a synonym for the word synonym.  I mean synonym is the antonym for the word antonym. So what is its synonym?"

Game Day⚽

It's the girls first game ⚽ so they put on the uniform and game faces. More pictures to come

Homework

School started on Monday. Courtney has had homework each night.  Her teacher asked her to read, or have read to her, three to five of her favorite books. Tonight the homework is to draw a picture from her favorite part of the favorite book that was read this week. She also had to write the title. 

Please keep in mind: Some nights I read to her, she reads to me and sometimes Janna reads to her sisters.

I asked Courtney what scene she was going to draw. Her response was, "Captain Underpants. The scene where his butt catches on fire!"  Her book is Captain Underpants and the Revolting Revenge of the Radioactive Robo-Boxers

Kennedy is now toothless

She lost another tooth. She wiggled it out without even telling anyone it was lose. She just pipes up in the car saying "mom my tooth just came out."  She is super proud of herself and can't wait to lose more.

Courtney asked me "where does the tooth fairy get all her money?  I know she doesn't steal it but where does it come from?  She's too busy to have another job."

First day of school

School has started here in Nevada. The girls asked if they could ride the bus. They know where the classrooms are and just want to be big girls. 

Unfortunately I woke up very sick this morning. So letting them ride the bus turned out to be an easy decision.

Ginger was most unhappy with my choice. She sat at the door for the longest time  now she walks back to the door and comes back whining at me. She is one sad dog who misses her girls! 

First ever soccer practice

The girls had their first soccer practice today. Courtney was the driving force behind wanting to play. Kennedy went along because her sister wanted it. They had fun getting their gear. Kennedy found everything pink and sparkly while Courtney was thrilled to find her two fav colors. Blue and green. 

Once we got there Kennedy informed her coach she didn't want to play. I intervened and said, "too bad get to work". By the end both girls begged the coach not to stop. In fact we stayed an extra hour practicing at the field.  They both had. Great time. 

Courtney dribbles well and she has a plan in mind on how to he better. She plans to practice every day. Kennedy said, "whatever. Enough practice lets playa game already!"  They have practice once a week and games on Saturday. Fiat game is on the 16th and I can't wait. 

So excited for my sweet girls.

 Btw. Kennedy's pink sparkly ball has a leak and she was very sad to have to leave it behind 

Lassen National Park

We spent the day in Lassen and went to "Bumpass Hell"  While there are many beautiful lakes, hot springs and trails here, the park ranger suggested it so we said ok.  Turned out to be a three mile hike to a portion of the active volcano.  There is so much sulfur in the ground which made it stink.  However, it was a fun hike and even funnier to see how the girls reacted to the smell.  It's called Bumpass Hell because a long time ago a man by the named of Bumpass was taking people on tours of the grounds when he stepped into a muddy spring and it burned his leg severally.  He eventually lost the leg and his life due to the injuries.

Eureka, CA

We spent the night in Eureka, CA.  There are a few old houses that we stopped to look at.  So pretty!  I love old houses.

Pictures from the Northern California Coast

When we went to see the Redwoods we ended the day at the nearby beach.  We had a change of clothes in the car so I let the girls get in.  It was cold so it was just us as David and his parents watched us.  We had an amazing time and it is one of my favorite outings with my family.  Courtney summed it up as she yelled at the top of her lungs "This is the best day ever!!"
