4th grade coming to a close

Janna ended her five years at Broadway Elementary in a great way. She earned medals for perfect attendance, citizenship (getting E's in conduct all year) and honor roll. She also received a surprise award, the principals award. This was for having the highest GPA in her class and being an exemplary student. We are so proud of our girl!

Below are photos of Janna with her principal Mrs Niki Conley and her teacher Mrs Cecilia Robey.

Symphony

The 4th grade had a special field trip to the symphony this week. Janna and her best friend Rachel decided to dress up. We discussed what it means to be over it under dressed. Bear in mind I would much rather be over dressed than under. It turned out the two girls were the only ones in  their school who dresses up. One teacher complimented Janna and told her, " you are showing your respect for the work they do when you dress up for a performance."  I'm so glad the lessons I'm trying to teach her are being reinforced.

Special time with Aunt Tina

For the girls birthday my sister gave them each a card they could redeem for a one on one date with her.  They get to choose what they want to do on their date.  We worried how the twins would handle it because they aren't apart often. Courtney is the worse at this so it was decided she would go first.

We didn't tell Courtney until Tina was on the way.  She immediately started bouncing around in excitement.  She added a few flourishes to her outfit.  She kept saying it was her day off with Aunt Tina.

Tina took her to the Downtown Aquarium .  She allowed Courtney to choose what they did first.  She said Courtney was decisive and knew just what she wanted to do.  She also kept telling her, "Thank you!  I love having a special day with you."  Tina said she couldn't get over how appreciative Courtney was.  It made her want to give her the moon.  She told me she was the sweetest child.

All in all Courtney had an amazing time during her special day out with wonderful Aunt Tina.

Hair cuts

On Saturday I took the girls to get haircuts. Kennedy wanted hers short. Really short. So short in fact the stylist was almost in years. She kept asking, "are you sure?" Afterwards Kennedy flips her hair and exclaims, "I love it. It's perfect and exactly what I wanted!"

Courtney and Janna hated it. They both it too short. I thought Courtney was copying janna as she loves to mimic big sister. But she was adamant she didn't like hair so short.

It's the first time the twins have had different hair cuts.

So today, a mere 3 days later Courtney says she had to have her hair cut short too. Not as short as Kennedy's but close. She just couldn't take being so different from her sister.

Yes I relented and had it recut. Attached is a photo of their new do's.

Twins?

The girls were playing with some new kids today on the playground. As the kids are playing a game one of the girls starts looking for Kennedy. She walks over to Courtney and asks, "hey, where's that girl?" Courtney says, "which one?" The girl replies, "the other one that you are."

I've never heard twins explained like that :)

Zen logic

Knowing the question is the first step toward knowing the answer.

My Hero

Janna and Rachel were discussing school today. They started talking about a paper they were writing in school. They have to write about their hero. Janna told me she is writing about me. I am touched and thinking she is the sweetest thing!
