South Lake Tahoe with Tina and Bill

Tina and Bill flew into town Wednesday. I decided to let the girls have a day off school so we could spend a long weekend in Lake Tahoe. Today when we got up it was snowing like crazy. We took the girls to the outside thermal heated pool so they could swim while it snowed. Later we went up the mountain to Hansen and went tubing. Then we headed up to Heavenly mountain for a bit

After dinner we took the girls back out to the pool for more swimming. It's 35 degrees out and snowing but the water felt great!

Kennedy's nightmare

Kennedy climbs into bed with me at midnight. She snuggles into me and says, "I had a bad dream. I dreamt a giant snail was chasing me!"

Man it's hard not to laugh sometimes.

Service at school

So far the new school is all about service. For Valentines Day the teachers have asked for 1 1/2 yards of fleece to be made into blankets. Volunteers like myself came in and cut the fabric and onFriday  as part of the party each class will tie the blankets.  The blankets will then be donated to "The Children's Cottage" which is in connection with the child protective services here.  When a child is taken out of a home it is typically without warning and without a chance to gather any of their belongings. TheChildren's Cottage  gives the child these blankets for their own at that time. 

I love that the school does so much in teaching the children about giving back to the community.  As a former foster child myself this melts my heart.  I walked into my foster home at age 9 with nothing and it hurt (for many reasons of course). I am thrilled they are doing this.

Kennedy's imagination

At bedtime Kennedy asks, "mom, you know why I need a light on?"  Me, "no why?"  Kennedy says, "cause I'm afraid zombies are going to come in here and whack me with a garden hose."  As I laugh she says, "I'm interesting huh mommy?"

Our awful paint - enjoy the laugh

We have talked about how bad the paint is in our new home.  We took some photo's to TRY to show that but I promise they don't do the walls justice.  The rooms are now empty and being painted.  YAY!!!!

This is the Lime Green hallway next to the Tangerine powder room.  It's beyond bright and yes that's two shades of orange you see in that small room.

In case you missed the orange - here is a close up of the corner.  Two shades - they did two shades of orange in there!!

Here is the red room - the white wainscoating on the bottom isn't terrible - but the vividness of the red is not shown to its full brightness in this photo.

Courtney has woken up each morning since birthday and reminded me, "I do NOT want a house for my birthday!"
